Welcome to Delgado Homestead

Family Owned and Operated Since 2019

We are the Delgado family.

Thank you for taking part in our journey.

It’s been quite the adventure going from Southern California city dwellers to full blown homesteaders in the woods of Washougal, WA. The road to self-sufficiency has been amazing so far! We built tons of infrastructure and established an enormous garden. We’ve learned a lot, and we have big goals for the future of the farm. To read a little more about our story, check out our About page.

Why mushrooms, chicken and sheep?

Early on in the journey, we focused on three areas of farming for the community: culinary mushrooms, pastured chicken and Babydoll sheep.

Mushrooms Are Magic

We love mushrooms! We truly believe in their power and potential for improving health of the mind, body and land. Also, they’re delicious!

Pastured Chicken is So Good

Locally raised pastured chicken is the best and tastes amazing. We’ve been having fun raising our own meat birds over the past two years. We’ve scaled up production for sale in the community, and we’re really excited about it!

Babydoll Sheep are the Cutest Ever

We fell in love with Babydoll Sheep. Their cute smiles, cotton ball features and luxurious wool are just a few reasons why we are crazy about them. We are dedicated to spreading the word about this adorable wool breed and help people get their own flocks started.

One of our favorite ways to prepare pastured chicken is roasted whole with lemon, garlic and herbs on top of carrots and onions.

How do I buy these fabulous mushrooms and chickens?

We sell fresh mushrooms for farm or in-town pick-up when mushrooms are in season. We cultivate mushrooms outdoors in a forest setting, so most mushrooms fruit on Mother Nature’s schedule usually 3-4 times per year. Subscribers to the Delgado Homestead Newsletter get first dibs on presale and updates on Mushroom Pop-up dates. Online ordering is available when mushrooms are in stock. Learn more about our process and browse our varieties here. Wholesale prices are available for restaurants and markets.

We raise pastured chicken in small batches of 60 or less, three times a year. Whole chicken is available for purchase for farm or in-town pick-up only. Subscribers to the Delgado Homestead Newsletter get first dibs on presale and updates on Chicken Pop-up dates. Online ordering is available when chickens are in stock. Learn more about our process here.

How do I get on the list to purchase lambs?

If you are looking to start a flock of your own or looking to add to an existing flock, send us a message for more info and to get on our Babydoll lamb reservation list.

What’s in store for the Blog?

We plan to post some of our favorite homestead recipes that transform our gourmet mushrooms and pastured chicken into healthy, delicious meals so stay tuned!

We can’t get enough of our sheep, especially during lambing time, so expect plenty of cute sheep content in addition to behind-the-scenes stories of the homesteading life.

We’ll also be posting How-to’s on growing your own mushrooms as well as news, science and musings from the incredible world of mushrooms.
